Alastair is a co-founder of William Grace and a partner specialising in Dispute Resolution. He was previously a partner at the boutique Media, Marketing and Technology firm, Swan Turton and before that spent a number of years with the highly rated specialist litigation firm, Byrne and Partners. He trained and qualified at Bird & Bird.
Alastair provides dispute resolution advice to a wide range of commercial and technology clients. He has substantial experience of guiding clients through how best to deal with contentious matters and disputes, whether pursued via court proceedings, mediation, arbitration or other means of ADR. Of particular note, is Alastair’s experience in dealing with international clients and his expertise in managing complex, multi-jurisdictional and often high-profile cases. Alastair has also acted in a number of major civil fraud cases in the last few years (as an example he is currently acting for a defendant in the substantial and high profile proceedings LIA v SocGen and Ors).
Alastair is a solicitor-advocate and holds rights of audience in both the civil and criminal higher courts. He has been a speaker at a number of conferences and events both in the UK and abroad (including at the White Nights Legal Forum in St Petersburg; with Ufa as part of a UKTI trade delegation; and as part of the Legal Services Industry Briefing Course to British Embassy Commercial officers based overseas), and is a member of the Law Society’s Civil Litigation Section committee.
Alastair has also been recommended in various legal directories, including most recently in the Legal500 2019, where has been commended for being ‘a great technical lawyer with superb judgment’ and for leading a team that is ‘professional and knowledgeable with quality lawyers who are easy and straightforward to deal with’.
