William Grace is a specialist law firm that is passionate about building enduring client relationships and delivering commercially focused legal solutions.
We have taken the expertise and in depth experience associated with traditional law firms and combined it with a flexible next generation model so that we more effectively meet the demands of our clients and improve their experience of engaging a law firm. We ensure our clients have access to expert senior lawyers who take time to build up a trusted relationship so that our clients can be confident in how they proceed. We also aim to be personable and easy to deal with, whether we are your sole legal advisor or if you need us to fit seamlessly with a wider team.
Our extensive experience allows us to understand the issues, concerns and motivations that exist at all stages of the business lifecycle. We engage effectively with entrepreneurs, early stage businesses and SMEs through to established blue chips and multinational corporations. We also work hard to ensure that we are in a position to provide valuable guidance across a wide variety of business relationships whether they be national or international, business-as-usual or something truly innovative and disruptive to an industry sector.
We focus on providing legal advice only in connection with our specialist areas. We are honest about what we don’t know. We don’t pretend or try and muddle through. Our partners are experienced senior lawyers that have trained at City firms specialising in commercial, technology and dispute resolution matters. They have also been recommended for their work in the Legal 500, a directory based on peer and client review. Where our clients need advice in other areas we will always seek out those best placed to provide it and regularly work closely with specialists in other law firms, both in the UK and internationally.
Our business model has been developed with our clients at its centre. We always invest time and effort in getting to know our clients and their business so that we can fully understand their requirements and build a trusted relationship which they know they can rely on. We understand that our clients want to continue to deal with experienced and expert advisors throughout the time we work with them. Our partners don’t just take an interest in matters. All our work is partner-led and they maintain a genuine and active involvement throughout.
We operate a lean and agile model to ensure that our clients are paying for our expertise and not a vast array of overheads. We only use more junior lawyers or paralegals where really needed and, if sensible to do so, only for the minimum time required. We operate as part of the “My Business Counsel“, which means they power all our systems and back office functions, giving us the security and efficiency often only associated with much larger firms. We are also able to work seamlessly with their pool of expert lawyers where we need back up or other additional resource.
We don’t slavishly follow the billable hour or a “time on the clock” regime. We often offer structures such as fixed or capped fees, day rates or subscription or retainer based charging. The latter options work particularly well for clients without any in house legal resource who need ongoing or ad hoc advice and assistance without the worry of clocking up unknown fees. We also understand that our clients may wish to consider different options for different pieces of work or that their circumstances and requirements may vary over time. We are always open to discussing new options and will work with our clients to find a bespoke billing solution that works best for them.
